4/5/2023 0 Comments Copy paste pattern renoise![]() ![]() By pressing on the steps knobs the knobs will be turned orange. In the next couple of example files I will start using the dublab Heavy Kit 1 (which is located in the heavy kits section of the default Reason Factory sound bank). To start making the bass drum to play, you will need to select the 1st channel first before entering the notes. But as I want to make everything more complete, I will present both techniques.įirst of all, you might want to start by loading up a single patch. Both methods have its advantages and disadvantages and it is probably up the music composer to decide which is the preferred method. There is however another method to control the Redrum computer using the sequencer itself. With this you can trigger the drums to play. Last part, and maybe a real important part in the Redrum machine is the patterns/ steps sections. As soon as channel 8 is triggered when channel 9 is still playing, the 9th channel of the Redrum will then stop and channel 8 takes over. The channel 8 & 9 exclusion makes the 8th and 9th channel of the Redrum patch play single times. When you have a lot of stuff inside your rack and the Computer itself is having problems playing them back (it starts to stutter) you might want to turn high quality interpolation of when that happens. The first one is for quality/ performance purposes. ![]() ![]() In this section you can also find the High Quality Interpolation knob, and the Channel 8&9 exclusive. From techno to house, to chemical beats to acoustic drums. Propellerhead Reason comes with a couple of nice standard Redrum patches with different styles. In the left lower corner there is an option to load up and save a complete Redrum patch. This is why channel 6 and 7 are different then the rest. There are different controls to make the pitch bend effect work. Toms would be one of those, same goes for certain effects. Other hit types might require a different pitch bend change. This can be done using the Velocity to Tone on channel 1, 2 and 10. Take for instance a snare that needs to brighten up while the snare is triggered "faster". Some hit types might need different tone (treble) on certain sounds while a samples is hit harder (that is velocity). While the other settings are Sample start point to Velocity. While Channel 6 and 7 have a setting for pitch bend amount > velocity. Channel 1, 2 and 10 have a setting for Tone > Velocity. While most of the upper controls are the same (Send, Pan, Level, Length, Pitch) there are additional settings different per channel.Īs you can see in the following image where it is highlighted. There are 10 different channels inside one single Redrum computer. What kind of drum it is, how loud it is, what the pitch is. The channels control the flavour of the drum. Adjusting this volume will have an effect on all the drums and channel settings inside this Redrum machine. This controls the volume of all drums that are inside this specific Redrum machine. Since this allows the user to fully control the sound and there for creating their own Redrum Drum Computer bank set. While getting a grip on using Reason as a tool, the individual channels are a more versatile option to use. In the beginning using the preset banks will give a clear understanding on how the sounds are created in the Redrum Drum Computer. By loading up individual samples in channel 1 till channel 10 By loading up a preset bank located at the left bottom cornerī. There are 2 different sections inside the Redrum to alter drum sets:Ī. The second method is to use the menu option:Įdit > Create > Instrument > Redrum Drum Computer Creating a Drum kit To create a Redrum Drum Computer, bring up the Tool wind (F8) and drag the Redrum Drum Computer from here to the Reason Rack. Later in this article I will go more in depth about the different settings that the Redrum Drum Computer has to offer in Reason In the following video I will explain the basic features of the Redrum Drum Computer. This allows the user to record their own unique sounds, and play them in a monophonic sequence. Since the Reason 5 update, the Redrum is geared with a Sampler. The step sequencer in the Redrum works so fast, that a lot of people will still use the step sequencer to play a series of Kong devices or Synthesizer sounds to create their own unique drum kit from this. While by clicking on buttons using the pattern step sequencer the sequence can be created and altered by different patterns. This is done by loading up by loading up the different sounds in to different channels. The Redrum is capable of setting up a drum track rather fast. The sampler comes with 10 different channels, where each channel can be changed in a specific direction. The Redrum drum computer is a sampler player that has been there since the first version on Reason. ![]()
